Youth Meeting Notes - July 14th

July 14th – Youth Meeting
1)      How are things going so far?
a.      Martin and Jenny successfully completed the Super Smash Bros tournament that had over 30 people show up, 19 kids in total competed for several prizes.
b. Lanny Kibbey was a HUGE success!!!! Will definitely have him booked again for next year
2)      August schedule
a.      Limited programming with Alief reopening soon
b.      Toddler and Babytime programs scheduled for August will take place at Tuesdays at 10:30 (Toddler) and Thursday at 10:30 (Babytime)
c.      No Preschool storytime will happen in August
3)      Outreaches in August
a.      August 6th – Alief Community Health Fair (Marcia and Jayla will attend)
b.      August 13th – Alief YMCA Back to School event
                                                    i.     Candece will attend? Along with youth person…??
                                                   ii.     Have pencil pinwheels for the craft/activity for kids to do
c.      August 17th and 18th – Alexander Elementary Back to School Resource Fair
                                                    i.     Two nights: Wednesday = Monica and Jayla, Thursday = Marcia and Isabell
4)      Craft Supply Clean Up
a.      Schedule for Cleaning
                                                    i.     Jayla spoke with Ms. Renee about getting volunteers to help assist
                                                   ii.     Weekly effort to help get all the moving shelves cleaned out
                                                  iii.     If you have free time, you are more than welcome to help clean out things
                                                  iv.     Clipboard with inventory of items will be kept on Jayla’s desk
b.      Google Form
                                                    i.     Jayla will create Google form to send out to Youth List asking if they would like to have particular items at their location
5)      Displays for August? – voted to put up something to make it not seem so empty in library
6)      Other information
a.      August 1st – all picture books need to be floated out. Keep one copy and float out the rest.
b.      Big books need to be added to the list of things that need to go out

c.      Jayla brought up the Pedestrian Safety Program, which Sara Pope emailed about, and Marcia thought it was a good idea to have at Alief
