For those who haven't heard, please be advised that the Self Check machines will only read tags from now on (no item barcodes!). This will involve some training of our customers; please show them how to put their items in the square when checking out.
This also has big implications for us: please tag everything, particularly be sure that all items going to our holds shelf have tags. Viet is our new tagging master, and he will tag items left in the tagging bin, but if you are scheduled to be on delivery it is your responsibility to make sure items going on our holds shelf have tags.
It is unfortunate that the red laser still shows up; I spoke with Calvin the 3M rep about it and he said it's a programming issue that he can't fix. The self check closest to the door currently has a communication error. We restarted it a few times on Friday. 3M has been notified.
