Hey Y'all!
We've been making fantastic progress on the multiple weeding projects we've got happening here at the branch. I just have one small favor to ask: Please pay attention to the carts.
If you're putting items on a book cart, look around the workroom and see if there's space on a discard cart that's already made up. This not only keeps carts available for everyday use, but also allows us some room to breathe and move in the workroom.
When you do put items on a cart that's already begun, please check the signage on it (there should always be signs on it).
The blue signs are fantastic because they have areas to check off if everything on the cart has been "deleted" (ie: already put on our discard account), and "stamped" (discard stamp placed over the HPL markings on the inside of the book and the stamp on top of the pages). It helps keep track of what needs to be done to those items next.
If we can keep from putting newly weeded items on the carts that are already marked deleted and stamped, that makes sure that we get everything done properly in the system, and reduces the number of books we may have to put on the missing list later on.
So, check the cart signs before you add to it, and check the space available on carts before you make a brand new one.
Also, if you feel like helping with the physical labor portion of discards like boxing and stacking, please let Lauren or me know!
We'll all be able to breathe a little easier once we get the yucky books out of the way. :)
Thanks!
Crystal
